Adobe Days at IU to showcase teaching and learning technologies
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 14, 2013
BLOOMINGTON and INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Indiana University and Adobe are partnering to present Adobe Days 2013 on the IUPUI and IU Bloomington campuses. The third annual event showcases Adobe tools and resources that help students and instructors of all disciplines connect, discover, create and inspire.
IUPUI will host Adobe Days in the Campus Center atrium on Friday, February 15. IU Bloomington will host in the Frangipani Room at the Indiana Memorial Union on Friday, March 1. Both campus events will take place from 10am to 3pm.
Adobe Days at IU celebrates the success of IU's Education Enterprise License Agreement (EELA) with Adobe Systems Inc. The agreement was the first of its kind between Adobe and any university, giving IU students, faculty and staff access to Adobe products at no additional cost.
"Adobe software plays a critical role in the development of the university community," said Sue Workman, associate vice president for client services and support. "Its integration into courses across IU's eight campuses has helped students discover new ways to learn and create, professors to easily refresh their course materials and staff to become more efficient and productive."
The events will feature a range of activities that show the user-friendliness and versatility of creative tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere and Flash. Attendees will get a hands-on look at interactive media (including a green screen), participate in Q&A sessions with Adobe experts, and enjoy displays of work by the university community.
Adobe Days will also showcase "Create the web," a worldwide tour of Adobe online advances in areas such as animation and motion graphics. In addition to discovering tools and technologies for the modern web, event participants can explore:
- New World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) specifications
- Tools and services that help designers create and test content
- Methods to leverage HTML to build mobile applications
- Progress in web font creation
Other activities include presentations by Tim Plumer, Adobe's senior solutions engineer; demonstrations by UITS IT Training staff; and faculty-led presentations from IUPUI's Center for Teaching and Learning and IU Bloomington's Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning.
